Highland Council update
Arrivals are advised daily through the Welcome Hubs in Edinburgh and communication re UDPs due to hotels can be very last minute, putting pressure on Highland Council staff as well as the staff in the hotel. • Most arrivals are keen to work and Highland Council staff have been busy supporting them to apply for bank accounts and get access to UK sim cards.

AD advised that the currently guarantee offered is 25% for the 39 contract duration and increased final payment to 15% of the contract price but advised this still leaves large gaps. AD advised that bank offering the refund guarantee would be provided by two separate banks Investec UK and Investec South Africa.

Over recent weeks, we have been engaging with learners, teachers and lecturers, parents and carers, as well as SQA’s Advisory Council, to consider whether these modifications should remain in place for the 2022-23 academic year. Following this engagement, and with the approval of the SQA Board, we have announced that the current modifications will remain in full for 2022-23.
