The Scottish Government will consider how best to deliver that commitment in the context of the proposals by John Finnie MSP to bring forward a Bill on equal protection for children.”
To follow up on that, it has been suggested to us that the threshold for the appointment of a curator is based on necessity rather than the child’s best interests. Would it not be more appropriate to set the bar at best interests, which would probably be more consistent with the general approach in the bill?
Parents can receive conflicting information and views on what is best for their child, but what is best for the child should be paramount and all aspects of the child’s development should be taken into account.
