I note the follow-up correspondence on progress on the review, which all MSPs received this morning.You heard the evidence from our first panel, and there will be quite a lot to work through.
I am familiar with the level of scrutiny that MSPs’ expenses are under. As we say in the reports, by contrast, around 8 per cent of e-PC transactions each month were subject to compliance checks.There are perhaps two points.
However, I am very clear that, when a party says in its manifesto that it is committed to, and that its MSPs will vote for, a referendum taking place, it is a mandate to have that choice.
I express my sincere thanks to both individuals for their important contributions to the committee’s scrutiny of the bill at stage 1, as well as to individuals who have contacted me directly as convener of the committee or as a constituency MSP, to share their views and experiences.
I accept that the SRC characterised it as an “imperfect” budget, but it is also one that it encourages MSPs to support and to get behind. It has referenced sources of support specifically for retail businesses in the budget.
