Last week, Professor Anna Stec of the University of Central Lancashire presented to MSPs the shocking results of her research into the impact of contaminants on firefighters, showing that United Kingdom firefighters are four times more likely to get cancer during their lifetime than the general population.

I agree; and I welcome the point raised by my colleague. Seventy-two of the 129 MSPs elected to the chamber were elected on manifestos that commit them, and this Parliament and Government, to holding a referendum on Scottish independence during this parliamentary session.
