You are implying that letting people out halfway through their sentence leads to extra costs in one part of the justice system; however, keeping them in longer would lead to extra costs for the Prison Service.
On 16 December, Duncan Hamilton popped up, talking about £665 million extra on health spending. On 12 January, Kay Ullrich committed the SNP to £41 million extra on residential care beds.
People will be made to pay twice, which is not right. Extra moneys should be made available, but I ask the minister to provide extra moneys throughout Scotland for extra police on the beat.
