Dr Needle provided further information about the TSP—
The spawning closure was based on a hypothesis about spawning behaviour and the benthos that cod need in order to be able to spawn, but it is a fairly blunt instrument. As we get more information in the future, through the TSP, both from our survey information and from bycatch data that we can get from across the fleet sectors, the intention is that we will get a clearer idea of where spawning is happening.
That leads on to the point that I was trying to make, which is that it forces people to take other routes to get to the UK or to get to safety, wherever that might be.
As for what I call our owned and earned activity—for example, our public relations activity—our PR team is focusing on different markets and has very strong relationships with the media in them.
In addition, pathways into high-skilled, well-paid jobs lead to better social outcomes for individuals and would help achieve Scottish Government ambitions around economic inactivity and child poverty, as well as increasing tax income.
I will take an example from physical activity research. We know that children who are physically active when they are young are more likely to be physically active when they are adults.
