To ask the Scottish Executive what recourse exists for communities seeking to oppose a planning application where minimum standards of pre-application consultation have not been met.
The Scottish Government has to date received two letters from parents regarding the Jacaranda Nursery in East Ayrshire. However, the provision of local pre-school services is the responsibility of the local authority and it is not the Scottish Government''s role to intervene in these local decisions.

To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will commit to holding discussions with doctors’ representatives on the issue of the removal from the Medical Act 1983 of the requirement for pre-registration doctors to be resident at the hospital where they are working.
The Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth wrote to the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 7 February 2008 to express his disappointment that the 2007 Pre-Budget Report (PBR) did not contain any measures to reduce the tax burden on the spirits industry in Scotland.

As announced on 14 November 2007, the hours of pre-school education will increase to 570per year from August 2010.The government isconsidering options for achieving the final step towards our commitment to a 50%increase in entitlement during 2011.
