Where derogatory language is used, we need to point that out to people in the media and remind them that they have their own guidelines and that the Press Complaints Commission has a code of practice.Reminding people of how they should behave and picking them up when they get it wrong is one thing, but that is not enough.

My understanding is that certain supermarket chains already have codes of practice and helpful rules, regulations or company policies on the matter and I am sympathetic to that.I do not want to be in any way flippant about the matter, but there are some tricky questions.
