In these notes, the following expressions are used— • “1980 Act” means the Solicitors (Scotland) Act 1980, • “1990 Act” means the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990, • “2007 Act” means the Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007, • “2010 Act” means the Legal Services (Scotland) Act 2010, • “the Commission” means the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission, • “the Faculty” means the Faculty of Advocates, • “the Guarantee Fund” means the Scottish Solicitors Guarantee Fund as established by section 43 of the 1980 Act, • “the Law Society” means the Law Society of Scotland, • “legal services provider” is defined in section 6 of the Bill (see also paragraphs 33 to 36 below), • “licensed legal services provider” (and “licensed provider”) are forms of legal business which are not wholly owned by solicitors.
