Gender Representation on Public Boards (Scotland) Bill [AS INTRODUCED] An Act of the Scottish Parliament to make provision about gender representation on boards of Scottish public authorities. 1 Gender representation objective (1) The “gender representation objective” for a public board is that it has 50% of non- 5 executive members who are women. Proposed adjustments will enable a redeployment of some ScotRail staff to provide more and better assistance for passengers. Passenger assistance services will remain available across ScotRail as they are now and all ScotRail services are specified to convey a member of staff on-board to assist passengers.ScotRail stations will continue to offer access to assets as they do at present.

While this is ultimately a matter for the company, we would call on them to work constructively with unions to ensure cost reductions in the industry are managed in a fair and effective manner, and in a way that looks to sustain and protect as many employees as possible. The Energy Jobs Taskforce is looking at the issue of cost efficiencies in the North Sea oil and gas industry as part of its work programme, which involves industry working with unions and other stakeholders to develop solutions that will result in a more sustainable and efficient industry going forward.
