Official Report Meeting date: 23 March 2000

Plenary, 23 Mar 2000

They are ignoring it and dodging it. Does Mr Henry recall that, in my concluding remarks, I gave five suggestions for practical things that could be done, the majority of which could be delivered under a devolved settlement?
Official Report Meeting date: 13 January 2000

Plenary, 13 Jan 2000

I will merely mention that if the Administration wishes to go ahead with its policy, a scheme should be put in place that compensates housing associations should they be left with outstanding debt following right-to-buy sales. I recall a particular difficulty that I experienced as a minister when I wished to progress a rent-tomortgage scheme.

From my involvement with the local enterprise company, I recall that the total spending limit on any project was about £15,000.

It should be remembered that in paragraph 10.6 of his judgment, the sheriff said that "since the medical treatment that the applicant has received and is at present receiving has not alleviated or prevented and is not likely to alleviate or prevent a deterioration of his condition, he does not meet the ‘treatability test' and it is not appropriate for him to be liable to be detained in a hospital for medical treatment, nor to remain liable to be recalled...

Social Security (Scotland) Bill

In response to a question about how rates of devolved benefits will be decided, Jeane Freeman told the Social Security Committee that: we will uprate benefits in line with inflation, using the consumer prices index, if I recall correctly. col 9Social Security Committee 02 March 2017, Jeane Freeman, contrib. 18, http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/parliamenta...
Official Report Meeting date: 2 November 2006

Plenary, 02 Nov 2006

With the greatest respect to the minister, I did not feel that in his response to my intervention he provided a compelling explanation of why the incorporation of the human rights remit and responsibilities within the functions of the Scottish public services ombudsman could not be done following the requisite changes that would make that possible. Does the member recall that the issue of whether a Scottish human rights commission could be amalgamated with other bodies was included in the consultation on the proposals?
Official Report Meeting date: 2 November 2005

Communities Committee, 02 Nov 2005

Amendment 163 would amend section 155 of the bill, which amends section 85 of the Antisocial Behaviour etc (Scotland) Act 2004 in relation to the criteria for the fit-and-proper-person test. As members will recall, I was happy to support those criteria at the time.In deciding whether an applicant is a fit and proper person, local authorities are currently r...
Official Report Meeting date: 19 April 2005

Communities Committee, 19 Apr 2005

It was thought that, if people were asked to keep a record, they would make an effort in that regard. I do not recall any discussion of school standards or crime levels and I was at all the meetings.
Official Report Meeting date: 27 March 2003

Plenary, 27 Mar 2003

In those days, it was not possible to be promoted beyond an office boy until it was seen whether the call came for national service at the age of 18. I recall that our office had not only the likes of myself who was 16, but two men who were over 70 years of age.
Official Report Meeting date: 23 January 2006

Waverley Railway (Scotland) Bill Committee, 23 Jan 2006

I would like to ask the other side of the question that I put to Mr Mitchell earlier. If you recall, Mr Meijer, he talked about a fence or barrier of about 2m in height to diminish noise and vibration, which you felt was not tall enough.
