To ask the Scottish Government how its policies and actions across government will take account of the key findings and recommendations of the Royal Society of Edinburgh's Post-Covid-19 Futures Commission published earlier this week.
I am sorry that that was a slightly lengthy answer, but it is a complex area and I wanted to lay out all the issues so that we have a chance to discuss them.
This is advice from the relevant officials who support me in these matters. But you are accountable—you are the accountable officer— Yes, that is right.
It is all about words such as “accountability”, and about taking decisions at the lowest possible level, consistent with democratic and financial accountability.
Most of the people with the knowledge tend to be in the Highlands. Accountability of organisations such as SEPA and NatureScot has been a recurrent theme during the Parliament’s consideration of a number of petitions.
However, yesterday’s evidence proves that those assurances were entirely false. As NHS Tayside is accountable to Scottish Government ministers, what action will the Scottish Government now take to deal with those appalling revelations?
