The Water Environment Fund supports urban river restoration in ways that both reduce flood risk and encourage more walking and cycling, thereby benefiting public health, increasing time spent in nature, improving air quality and reducing emissions. Similarly, many behavioural changes that are beneficial for individual health are also effective at reducing carbon emissions.
