To ask the Scottish Government whether it will provide an update on progress on reducing teachers’ class contact time. I have commissioned an external research exercise to consider how best to progress the commitment to reduce class contact time by 90 minutes per week.
Teachers and trade unions have told us that heavy workloads and lack of non-contact time are impacting on wellbeing, and the national discussion was crystal clear that the Government must implement its commitment to increasing non-contact time.
With a total budget allocation of £1.4 billion in 2022-23, we continue to protect real-terms funding for Police Scotland, which supports further investment in our 999 and 101 services through plans to introduce a new digital contact platform, which will further strengthen capabilities in that area.
Open with Care: supporting meaningful contact in care homes was published on 24 February and sets out how indoor and outdoor contact should gradually increase while minimising COVID-19 risks to residents, staff and visitors.
