*S5M-12356 Gail Ross: FLAG Funding in Caithness, Sutherland and Ross That the — Parliament congratulates the successful applicants to the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, Tuesday 22 May 2018 17 Today's Business Future Business Motions & Questions Legislation Other Gnothaichean an-diugh Gnothaichean ri teachd Gluasadan agus Ceistean Reachdas Eile Motions | Gluasadan which aims to encourage community-led local development and enable localised decision making through Fisheries Local Action Groups (FLAGs); welcomes the news that three organisations within Caithness, Sutherland and Ross have recently benefited from this fund; notes that they are N58 in Ullapool, which plans to utilise the funds to develop a sustainable seaweed industry in the north west, Ockran Oysters in Ullapool, which has obtained funding to invest in its oyster production company, and Bells Seafood in Scrabster, which has obtained funding to assist with installing a new blast freezer to use with recycling fish waste for future use in the fishing industry, and notes that the three projects supported in Caithness, Sutherland and Ross have attracted over £29,000 in funding from FLAGs, which aim to support projects that will create jobs and stimulate the local economy in fishing communities.
