Official Report Meeting date: 21 September 2005

Plenary, 21 Sep 2005

The Public Appointments and Public Bodies etc (Scotland) Act 2003 requires the commissioner to keep the code under review, and we note that the commissioner has stated that she intends to ensure that she receives feedback from those who are involved in public appointments and that that will be taken into account in determining any future revisions. That flexibility, added to the sound base that is set out in the draft code, means that the Standards and Public Appointments Committee is content to endorse the "Draft Code of Practice for Ministerial Appointments in Scotland".I move, Draft Code of Practice for Ministerial Appointments to Public Bodies in Scotland (SP Paper 410), together with the Official Report of the Parliament's debate on the report, should form the Parliament's response to the consultation by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland.

Enterprise and Culture Committee, 18 Apr 2006

Local Government and Transport Committee, 21 Jun 2005

A specific suggestion, which is not included in the paper, is that we write to the minister and ask him that, at his earliest opportunity after that meeting, he writes to the committee to advise us of any significant developments that have arisen.Out of courtesy, I advise members that I have been approached by the Scottish Trades Union Congress to take part...
Official Report Meeting date: 1 December 2004

Justice 1 Committee, 01 Dec 2004

I presume that once the information has been gained, we will monitor developments as a matter of course because the matter will come back to the committee?
Official Report Meeting date: 20 January 2004

Justice 2 Committee, 20 Jan 2004

I did not find the reply from the Minister for Environment and Rural Development, in which he suggested that the present legislation was sufficient, particularly helpful.
Official Report Meeting date: 26 November 2003

Public Petitions Committee, 26 Nov 2003

We are injecting mercury into the bloodstream of eight-week old babies—a procedure that has been banned in most other developed countries. The response from the Scottish Executive was that mercury is contained only in the DTP vaccine, which is given at two, three and four months—it is given to children three times—and that an alternative vaccine called Infa...

Many of us participated in that, and we hoped that we would develop closer relations with the council at parliamentary level and at Executive level.
Official Report Meeting date: 11 June 2003

Procedures Committee, 11 Jun 2003

I would like more information from George Reid or Murray Tosh about the discussion that is taking place so that the committee can take a view on how to work with them in developing the Parliament's procedures in the months to come.
