Supported by: James Dornan*, Douglas Ross*, Stewart Stevenson*, Richard Lyle*, Bill Kidd*, Sandra White*, Ash Denham*, David Torrance* S5M-05992 Fulton MacGregor: North Lanarkshire Council Classroom Assistants That the — Parliament condemns the reported decision of the Provost of North Lanarkshire to, it understands, refuse to allow discussion of the Labour/Conservative administration s decision to remove 198 ’ classroom assistant posts throughout the local authority; understands that the Provost ruled a motion from the SNP group on the council as incompetent without explaining why; further understands that, contrary to claims from both the administration and senior officials of the council that there will be no job losses, several additional support needs assistants have been informed that they will lose their jobs at the end of the school term; believes that this is an affront to democracy and that a large scale campaign from parents, teachers and classroom assistants has been ignored, and calls on the administration in North Lanarkshire to, at the very least, maintain the current level of classroom assistants.
