To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to S6W-03307 by George Adam on 5 October 2021, whether any progress has been made on revisions to the (a) Scottish Ministerial Code and (b) Code of Conduct for Special Advisers.
It is also worth saying that it is possible for the commissioner to not set aside but relax any provision in the code—that is built into the code itself.
We have a standard approach when we develop codes of practice: we draft a code internally, seek views from stakeholders, review the draft code, amend it as appropriate and ensure that it is in plain English.

At that time, the Minister acknowledged continuing concerns from the sector about the Code, and stated the Scottish Government would undertake "a short, focused and targeted consultation about how the Scottish Pubs Code could be amended".
