An additional £70 million of capital funding is being provided in this year’s budget; the total capital funding in 2024-25 to support that is £167 million.

The current nursing and midwifery workload and workforce planning tools make allowance for staff’s ongoing learning and continuing professional development as part of overall planning assumptions.
The line that Unison, the STUC and the STUC women’s committee have all consistently taken on the issue is that we have to start considering state-funded childcare as an investment in the workforce.
We recognise that apprenticeships are an essential way for all employers, regardless of size and sector, to develop their workforce and contribute to business and economic growth.
