It is about putting in place measures to support people to have their independent living. It is not about living on your own and doing things for yourself.
Extra costs of disability - adequacy: The relative and absolute poverty rate among children in Scotland living in households including a disabled person is 27% and 23%, respectively. 29% of children living in a lone parent household are living in a 21 household with a disabled person . 18% of those who sought advice from us about the Daily Living component of ADP in Quarter 1 of 2025-26 were living in households with children, of which 8% were lone parents.
I reiterate that I am fortunate in that I live a 20-minute train journey away; the situation is much more challenging for colleagues who live further away.
