We firmly believe that legislative creep is an inevitable consequence of legalising assisted dying. Campaigners for assisted dying highlight the personal stories and tragedies of disabled people’s lives to promote the assisted dying cause.
Obviously, that is a blow to the local area, and this will be an anxious time for the affected employees. Scottish Enterprise is already engaging with the company, and it will meet local management as soon as possible to discuss the decision.
As in all these situations, the Scottish Government will offer any assistance that we can to the company to try to mitigate job losses, but we will also ensure that our partnership action for continuing employment—PACE—initiative is working with any affected employees to help them into alternative employment.
Any employee raising an allegation of bullying, from whatever source, will have their complaint taken seriously and be offered support from COPFS Staff Welfare Service and EmployeeAssistanceProgramme.
