Both national park authorities were added to the list of bodies in schedule 3 to the Ethical Standards in Public Life etc (Scotland) Act 2000 and so were required to have in place their own codes of conduct for their members, which had to take account of the terms of the model code of conduct that was approved by Parliament.Section 5 of the model code provides for the circumstances under which members should declare an interest at meetings.
The thing that we would like to be included in the bill would facilitate good use of the code, so we would be able to see how the code could be changed in the future.
At stage 1 the committee was exercised by the potential for review of the code of practice. We were concerned that the code should promote best practice, rather than provide a lowest common denominator.

The number of deaths coded to this more general cause has increased rapidly in recent years and it is generally accepted that a significant, but unknown, proportion of these deaths involves liver cirrhosis.

It will be given the task of ensuring compliance with the OCPA Code and in due course the code published by the Scottish Commissioner for Public Appointments.
To ask the Scottish Executive whether it has any plans to review or change the Scottish Ministerial Code. I have no plans at present to amend the Scottish Ministerial Code.
That the Parliament agrees that the following instruments be approved: the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning) (West Coast) (No. 14) (Scotland) Order 2001 (SSI 2001/451); Standards in Public Life Code of Conduct; Councillor's Code (SE 2001/50); Standards in Public Life Code of Conduct; Member's Model Code (SE 2001/51).
She acknowledges in her letter that she finds our new information to be interesting, particularly the draft code of conduct, and she welcomes the Deputy Minister for Environment and Rural Development's comment that he is keen to have some form of statutory underpinning for the draft code.
