We heard a lot about the work that was done by John Gerrard, who spoke at that reception. He started as a technical officer in 1968 and retired from the organisation in 2000.
When one visits, one is met with music in the reception area and is then transferred down the passageway past all sorts of pictures and memorabilia that the residents have put together, partly using items from their own homes.

As well as the formal Cabinet meeting, ministers hosted public meetings on the Government''s Vision for Scotland, staged receptions to celebrate Scotland''s Year of Food and Drink, and undertook visits and engagements around each meeting.

The ambassador then met with the First Minister at his annual reception for the Consular Corps at Edinburgh Castle where he was presented with a Quaich of Friendship.
This indicates the average daily number of beds, which were staffed and were available for the reception of inpatients and day cases. The figures include borrowed beds, temporary beds, neo-natal and post-natal cots.
For example, visiting a lonely friend or relative in their home can be a crime, but meeting them in a busy cafe is allowed; and attending a wedding reception in a hotel with 20 others is acceptable, but social distancing in a local restaurant where strict safety measures have been introduced is not acceptable.
Together, we are considering how to develop an extended producer responsibility scheme for fishing gear, and how to implement the port reception facilities directive to support better waste management in our fishing industry.
I am pleased, too, that the First Minister has kindly agreed to speak at the service and to host a reception afterwards. It is right that the leader of the Scottish Government shows our country’s commitment to remembering what happened.
