The £50 million referred to in Quality and Standards 2 (Bib. number 15676) has been allocated to help ease constraints on new development and to help with first time sewerage in rural areas.Scottish Water is currently conducting a thorough survey of their network, with a view to understanding the scale of the development constraints problem and its implications.

Of particular significance were improvements in structure and balance of the curriculum, the programmes in expressive and aesthetic development, aims and policy making, and opportunities for children to learn through play.

In future the Scottish Social Services Council will lay down such qualifications as part of its work to register staff.The Scottish Executive has made the training of staff working in residential childcare a priority for development. In addition to establishing the new Scottish Social Services Council, the Executive has established the Scottish Institute for Residential Child Care to improve the training and qualification of staff and to work with the residential units to promote effective organisational development.

In Nursing for Health, we acknowledged that the current methods of recording activity are inadequate and do not reflect changing practices. Work is on going to develop a more meaningful means of reflecting community nursing activity based on the development of an electronic primary health care patient record.
