At our previous meeting, we considered a paper on the current categories of registrable interests. When we drafted the code of conduct, we agreed to revisit some of the consultative steering group's recommendations on the code.
That means that there should be a change to the code of conduct. I am not sure that we should have a debate in the chamber on that alone, as that would mean taking parliamentary time to make one change to the code.
It is important to stress that, at this stage, the code is a draft code. Once the bill passes through the Parliament, SNH will have a new duty to prepare and consult on a code.
The code is being drafted in close consultation with Whitehall, where the Electoral Administration Bill is currently being considered and in respect of which a similar code is being drawn up.
