It calls on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to address the threat that is posed to the fragmented remnants of ancient woodland by fulfilling the commitment to protect the nation's rarest and richest wildlife habitat that it made as a partner in the United Kingdom forest partnership for action in preparation for the world summit on sustainable development in 2002.At its meeting on 22 June 2005, the committee agreed to write to the Executive, the UK forest partnership for action, the Forestry Commission Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage and the Confederation of Forest Industries (UK) Ltd.
