The increased risk of poverty amongst lone parent families was also referenced in the Committee’s deliberations on the Child Poverty (Scotland) bill. The need for Primary Legislation
The Policy Memorandum to the Bill notes that the requirement for primary legislation has “arisen reasonably recently”1UEFA European Championship (Scotland) Bill. (2019, September 25).

Health inequalities in a future Scotland
Health inequalities were bad in Scotland before the pandemic hit, and evidence and data to date shows that COVID-19 has made them worse.
The pandemic has also had significant impacts on agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, for instance as a result of the restriction or complete closure of certain markets for Scottish food and drink products and produce.
As Scotland hopefully progresses towards recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Committee suggests that its successor committee/s may wish to consider how best to incorporate scrutiny of that recovery and potential longer term impacts on those sectors falling with its / their remit/s into its / their work programme for Session 6.
