The SPCB also noted the following in relation to new and proposed officeholders: 13.1 The Patient Safety Commissioner for Scotland Act was passed in September 2023 and with effect from 1 April 2025, funding for this new officeholder would form part of the SPCB’s overall budget. 13.2 In addition, the Victims, Witnesses & Justice Reform (Scotland) Bill, was introduced in October 2023 which provides for an independent Victim’s Commissioner who would be supported by the SPCB.
