Members should have received a paper in my name—it is the pink paper entitled "Work Programme: Early 2002".In the summary at the end of the paper we ask the committee to"Note the legislative requirements which limit the time available for other work"for the first five or six weeks of the new year and, possibly, beyond.We also ask the committee to"Agree that an inquiry into Integrated Rural Development should seek to identify the barriers to successful Integrated Rural Development".We felt that rural development is such a wide issue that it would be impossible to hold an inquiry into all of it, but that it might be useful to attempt to determine where real barriers to successful integrated rural development exist.
