To ask the Scottish Executive what the impact on school population is estimated to be per 100 houses of new housing developments. The relationship between newhousing developments and school populations is best assessed locally and will belikely to vary according to the nature and location of the developments.
The first question is, that motion S2M-3031, in the name of Des McNulty, on the Finance Committee's second report of 2005, entitled "Cross-cutting Expenditure Review of Economic Development", be agreed to. Motion agreed to.
It is up to the committee to decide whether we think that it is a good idea and to consider how it could be developed or amended. Scott Barrie made an important point about smaller courts.
Such development would reduce the regulatory effort for SEPA and the fees that are paid by farmers, while still ensuring a high level of environmental protection.
