Issues linked to funding are on the agendas of most of the formal meetings that take place involving the Scottish Executive and Police Authority Conveners.
Budget proposals submitted via the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland for 2002-03 were met in full in the funding settlement. As a result, the level of funding provided to forces is now at record levels.

Swimming lessons for children and young people aged five to 16 could be funded, provided they meet programme priorities, eligibility and assessment criteria.
It would be for authorities to decide whether to use part of that funding for a pilot project on the use of telematics.In addition, voluntary and community groups can apply to the Scottish Executive's Rural Community Transport Initiative (RCTI) for funding for demand-responsive services.

However, we will be monitoring progress during the year.In terms of making funding available to tackle homelessness we have increased the funding for the Rough Sleepers Initiative (RSI) for the five years from 1997-2002 to £42 million.
