I express my sincere thanks to both individuals for their important contributions to the committee’s scrutiny of the bill at stage 1, as well as to individuals who have contacted me directly as convener of the committee or as a constituency MSP, to share their views and experiences.
Since my return to Parliament in January, I have found it challenging to balance life here and at home. Talented MSPs have stood down because of the way in which parliamentary business is structured.
Therefore, there is nothing to prevent the Lord Advocate from coming to this chamber to take questions from MSPs. That is in accordance with the wider position in Scots law.
