Stage 1 Report on the Management of Offenders (Scotland) Bill - Conclusions on electronic monitoring

The Committee notes the Scottish Government's plans to carry out pilots under this Bill to this effect. The Committee also notes, however, the views of the representative of the Law Society of Scotland who indicated that any such amendments necessary to extend the provisions in Part 1 to cover pre-conviction bail would not be within the scope of this Bill, given that it focuses on offenders and that the Bill provides for the use of electronic monitoring when “disposing” of a case.
