What Mr Swinney does not realise is that the construction of the new Edinburgh royal infirmary—which was delivered on time and almost exactly within budget, in contrast to most other public sector capital projects—is a significant achievement for Lothian NHS Board, which has put together a project that will deliver world-class health facilities as the hospital improves and develops, as the years go by. It is also at the centre of a significant development that will improve the whole biotech industry in Scotland and is linked into research and other key facilities. It is those kinds of modern facilities that the Scottish nationalist party thinks that Scotland does not deserve and that it does not want Scotland to have.
