I very much welcome the fact that the Groceries Code Adjudicator is part of the UK’s legislative processes, and the European Commission is watching the adjudicator closely to see what we can learn and whether we need to lay down EU common rules and a framework for other member states.

Surely no one would deny the appropriateness of ensuring that each young person who registers to play with a pro club is provided with age-appropriate guidance on what registration means in advance of signing, or that age-appropriate versions of codes of conduct are developed. Some people will balk at some of what is proposed.

At that time, there was concern about the postcode lottery that neurological patients, including those with MS, faced in accessing appropriate healthcare, and about the need for a code of national standards of care. I am pleased that clinical standards for neurological healthcare were published in 2009 and that health boards are implementing them.
