S6M-17523: Jeremy Balfour: National Epilepsy Week and Epilepsy Scotland’s “A Seizure That Stole a Future” Campaign— That the Parliament recognises National Epilepsy Week, which takes place from 26 May 2025, and its aim of raising awareness of epilepsy and its impacts on the lives of the 80,000 people in Scotland who live with the condition; notes with particular attention the launch of Epilepsy Scotland’s campaign, "The Seizure that Stole a Future", which seeks to highlight the often unknown and devastating risk of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP); acknowledges the emotional toll that SUDEP takes on families and communities; notes the view that there is a need for greater awareness, research and open discussion to reduce its occurrence; commends Epilepsy Scotland for its continued work providing support, advice and specialist services to individuals and families affected by epilepsy across the country, including in the Lothian region, and congratulates the charity on its leadership in tackling stigma, improving care and advocating for a safer and more informed Scotland.
