The Committee therefore only refers petitions to another committee where the issue fits with the existing work programme of that committee. During the Parliamentary year, the Committee referred a petition to another committee on seven occasions.
The participant had a physical disability at the highest rate for care and mobility and was using a big proportion of his income for social care assistance. Particularly for more legislation-intensive committees, if the Government’s legislative programme dominates the committee’s work programme, that understandably means that other priorities on the work programme might be lower down the list.
