*S6M-05173 Emma Harper: Sykes Scotland Staycation Index 2022—That the Parliament welcomes new data from the Sykes Scotland Staycation Index 2022, which shows that the demand for Scotland as a preferred holiday destination is being seen more widely across the whole of the UK, with 32% of all UK holidaymakers already having a trip booked to Scotland in 2022 and a further 29% planning a trip to Scotland by the end of 2022, and with 80% of Scots planning a Scottish staycation this year; further notes that the data shows that price has become the number one incentive for travellers choosing to holiday in Scotland, which it considers is because the cost of living crisis continues to have an impact and people opt for more affordable destinations closer to home; considers that the data also shows that Dumfries and Galloway has overtaken the Highlands as Scotland’s most in-demand holiday region for 2022, with Southerness leading the way for the most-booked staycation destination for the summer period; further considers that the outstanding natural beauty of Scotland, along with its high quality visitor attractions and outdoor pursuits, as well as its rich culture and history, are a key asset to Scotland in attracting tourism from across the whole of the UK, and applauds the custodians of these assets for their hard and dedicated work each day, and encourages all to enjoy everything Scotland has to offer, but to be mindful of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code...
