At the meeting that Ms McNeill and other MSPs attended last week, a range of different agencies set out some of their work on next steps in relation to their responsibilities, and I have committed to provide a further update for MSPs in March.
A power of scrutiny reserve could contribute to ensure that MSPs have sufficient time to review this response, and therefore could serve as a powerful tool.
SLARC also recommended that the leaders of Edinburgh and Glasgow city councils be paid the same as MSPs. Under the new three band structure recommended by SLARC, council leaders in other local authorities would see their pay set as a percentage of MSP pay.
The Scottish Government, under the former First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon MSP, 36 committed to increase this percentage to 11%, in line with the EU average. 36.
At the point of the pause, I deliberately ensured that all relevant partners, including the constituency MSP and regional MSPs, were informed of progress, and I will continue to do so.
