All that is at a time when we are facing £500 million cuts in planned expenditure this year.Let me be clear: this Government is providing the costs of the recruitment, training and salaries of the extra 1,000 officers. That is extra funding specifically to recruit those 1,000 extra officers and it should not be used for any other purpose.
