To that end, I favour the creation of a forum that would allow many of the people who have given evidence to the committee's inquiry to talk to one another. I know that there are liaison groups between the Law Society and the Scottish Consumer Council and that those bodies get involved in specific things that each other does.

More resources must be put into the situation, perhaps a separate department in the fiscal service in larger sheriff courts for dealing with those matters, closer liaison with the councils on the way in which they go forward and the policy that the council must seek.
