We have yet to hear a coherent argument from the Executive on why that model should be followed. The Health and Community Care Committee is of the opinion that the model should be revisited and that there should be some correlation to existing administrative boundaries.Without doubt, fees have been the most contentious issue.

In general, the fèis is a model initiative for community arts, and an example followed by similar festivals in other tongues, such as the Gordon Gaitherin—now the Gaitherin—in Aberdeenshire, and by festivals in other parts of Scotland and the world.

We need a more effective business gateway system—one that does more than simply offer advice when businesses are starting up. We need gateways to follow through with long-term, on-going advice.

We must work on the system and the resources that are behind it. The police do not follow up cases because they do not have enough resources to do so; instead, they pass cases on to social workers because that is easy.
