However, casework that is coming through my office indicates that many parents and carers in Motherwell and Wishaw are not aware of co-ordinated support plans. They are being offered a personal plan, an education plan or a getting it right for every child plan—any plan that does not have the statutory underpinning of a co-ordinated support plan.
Given the cross-cutting nature of the Plan, a number of other committees are involved in its scrutiny. A co-ordinated approach was taken to ensure effective and broad-ranging scrutiny, including the sharing of evidence, in order to co-ordinate a response to the Scottish Government.
I am, of course, happy to meet Pam Duncan-Glancy, but I point out that there is a co-ordinating regional model in place for skills co-ordination, which we are working with, and which colleges in Glasgow and the greater Glasgow area feed into.
The key to achieving that objective, and to doing so effectively, is to co-ordinate the action that will be necessary, which is exactly what a public agency will be able to do.
