This assessment concluded that most of the trunk road through the town meets the requirements for a reduced limit.On that basis, a 20mph limit will be introduced from Bridgemill Roundabout in the north toa point near to the Shallochpark Roundabout at the southern end of the town.

The investment at Barnhill remodelled a junction between the Tay Viaduct at Perth and Barnhill to increase line speeds over it from 20mph to 50mph. It is a direct enabler for the plan to reduce rail journey times between the Central Belt and the North-East, improving connectivity and enhancing capacity for both passenger and freight trains on the route.

There is good evidence that 20 miles per hour speed limits can significantly reduce air pollution from diesel vehicles, so will the Government also consider a default 20mph speed limit for Scotland’s residential areas, which would be significantly cheaper for councils to roll out than the current piecemeal approach to 20mph zones?
