The first recommendation is on the Scottish Executive's response to our report on the new objective 3 and Highlands and Islands structural fund programmes. Most of our main concerns have been picked up—the Executive has positively engaged with the committee and I am pleased that the committee has had some influence.

Will the relevant Executive departments work with key agencies in my constituency to help to secure a buyer for the company and ensure that every possible support is given to the workforce? Obviously, we sympathise with those who are affected by such decisions.

I agree that it is important to have the right proposals, but the blockage has been caused not by a lack of funding for the right proposals but by getting the Home Office to agree to the right proposals.

To ask the Scottish Executive what its estimate or best prediction is of the amount of end-year flexibility for 2006-07 and 2007-08. The Scottish Executive does notforecast levels of EYF but provisional outturn data for 2006-07 on which EYF willbe based is expected to be announced in June 2007.
