It is for Glasgow City Council to consider proposals for the regeneration of the Arden area and their relative priority for funding. From my meeting with the association and from recent correspondence, I am aware that there is frustration in Arden that a regeneration strategy has not yet been agreed.
As the member knows, through our agreement with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, ring fencing has come to an end. We are rolling up all the funding and presenting it in a block grant to local authorities to distribute as they see fit.
The Scottish Government remains committed to sustainable development, as defined in the 2005 UK shared framework for sustainable development, One future “ different paths.
We have also had questions on flood prevention, future funding for Scottish universities, personal care for the elderly, and funding for housing and community regeneration.

To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will allocate sufficient funding in 2008-09 to ensure that there are no job losses in organisations that provide places for young people in secure units.
