Supported by: Bill Kidd*, Alasdair Allan*, Stephanie Callaghan*, Miles Briggs*, Colin Beattie*, Audrey Nicoll*, Liam McArthur*, Annabelle Ewing*, Jackie Dunbar*, Stuart McMillan*, Maggie Chapman*, Jeremy Balfour* *S6M-12750 Bob Doris: Maryhill Activity Directory Celebrates 21st Anniversary—That the Parliament congratulates all those who have supported the development and launch of the 10th edition of the Maryhill Activity Directory (MAD), which took place on 22 March 2024 at a special event in the Mackintosh Halls on Shakespeare Street in the Maryhill area of Glasgow; notes that the launch represents the 21st anniversary year of the Maryhill Activity Directory; recognises that the directory, which began as a single sheet of paper containing a short list of events in 2003, has grown to become a full colour, 42-page A5 brochure, with over 700 listings and contact details for a wide range of groups, churches, sports organisations, voluntary services, elected representatives and much more, across Maryhill and the north of Glasgow; welcomes that, in addition to the printed directory, a regularly updated website and companion app has also been launched in recent times; appreciates in particular the central role of Deacon Jim Hamilton, of Maryhill Parish Church, in the development of the directory throughout its growth from the directory’s initial inception to the comprehensive directory that exists today; pays tribute to Jim and a small team, including various volunteers who have helped to make the directory such a success; notes regrettably the passing of Jim Brymner, whose contribution in expanding the directory over the years deserves particular thanks and recognition; extends its gratitude to the many individuals, groups and organisations, whose commitment and service to the communities covered by MAD enable the Maryhill Activity Directory team to compile such a fulsome and complete range of services and activities, and believes that this is testament to the efforts of both the team the Maryhill Activity Directory, and so many within Maryhill and beyond, who contribute to making their communities a vibrant and welcoming place to stay.
