We have asked NHS Borders and the other health boards to ensure that they continue to expand their commitment to NHS dentistry either by having salaried dentists on their premises or through support to general dental practitioners. The modernisation fund gave a clear steer to health boards that dental premises were to be a priority.

Local authority returns show that 245 full-time equivalent teachers were employed as a result of those extra funds.
