S6M-06569: Jamie Halcro Johnston: Road Improvements and the Dualling of the A9 - That the Parliament notes with concern the number of incidents that have taken place on the A9 over recent months and led to road closures, and injuries and fatalities; recognises the Scottish Government’s commitments to dual the A9 from Perth to Inverness by 2025, which PB/S6/23/34 stand alongside other commitments to road improvements, such as dualling of the A96 by 2030, to support road safety, and provide the economic advantages of connectivity; notes the view that commitments and proposals on investment in the road network have not progressed at pace in recent years and that questions have been raised about the commitment of the Scottish Government to these proposals following the agreement between the Scottish Government and the Scottish Green Party Parliamentary Group; acknowledges the belief that work on the A9, in particular, is clearly not on schedule, and notes the calls for the Scottish Government to reaffirm these commitments on the basis of an updated and achievable timetable that should be presented to the Parliament as soon as possible, in order to reassure communities in the Highlands and Islands and across other regions that committed investment will take place.
