Many people are forced to work in Edinburgh, which is about to have a massive jobs bonanza. I appeal to the Executive to follow through on its commitments to ensure that we reduce substantially and soon the 6,000 or so civil servants, to whom Fergus Ewing referred, who work in Edinburgh.

My experience in local government leads me to believe that people would welcome that, as part of a shared agenda of high public standards for both elected and appointed officials. Will the minister follow the practice that he adopted in the City of Glasgow Council, by ensuring political balance in the standards commission and by rotating the chairmanship?
